Bundling home and auto insurance: how it works and when it helps

Combining policies can mean simpler bills and a multi-policy discount. Here is what bundling actually means, and the questions to ask before you do it.

“Bundle and save” is one of the most common phrases in insurance. Here is what it really means.

What is bundling?

Bundling means buying more than one type of insurance, such as home and auto, from the same company. Each policy keeps its own coverage; they are simply grouped under one account.

The benefits

  • Multi-policy discounts. Many insurers reduce the price when you combine policies.
  • Simplicity. One account, one app and often one renewal date.
  • Easier claims. If one event affects your home and your car, dealing with one company can be simpler.

Questions to ask first

  • Is each policy’s coverage right for me, not just the combined price?
  • How much is each policy on its own?
  • Can I add or remove policies later without penalty?

Bundling works best when every policy in the bundle is one you would choose anyway. At Comfort, we are designing bundles so you always see the price and coverage of each part.
